Quadruple blood bags are used to collect and separate whole blood into four components: red blood cells, plasma, platelets or buffy coat and cryoprecipitate or leukocyte.
Each bag is composed of the following: anti-coagulant additive solution, primary bag, platelets transfer bag for 5-days platelet storage and a donor needle gauge.
Two different anti-coagulant solutions can be present to separate this family into two sub-families: bags with CPAD-1 solution and bags with CPD/SAG-M solution.
Regardless of the anti-coagulant solution is, the primary bags sizes available would be as follows: 250ml, 350ml, 450ml and 500ml.
The possible sizes of the platelet transfer bags are: 150ml, 300ml, 350ml, 400ml and 450ml.
